A journey to and stay in Malaka

On this page, I’d like to share my experience during my trip to Malaka. It was about 3 hour’s journey from Singapore to Malaka by car through Singapore-Malaysia high way.  Along Malaysia highway, you will see a broad expanses palm tree plantation.

Once you arrive in Malaka, this place provide many choices to stay. I was stay in Holiday-In hotel, it just near to City area as well as close to shore line. Facing sea view, you will see very nice view of Mosque with a misty ambience in the morning.

Melaka Heritage in Iphone 6 Camera

I visited Malacca, Malaysia last year, in January 2018. I manage to explore Malacca city and capture historical building and places as well as witness Malacca culture and heritage. 

Referring to Malacca history, Malacca was established when Parameswara who was the king of Sriwijawa kingdom had escaped from Sriwijaya, Palembang in Sumatra due to Majapahit invasion in 1377.

   Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum, The museum building was constructed in 1984 and became a cultural museum. The museum was officially opened on 17 July 1986 by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. Malacca also was occupied by Portuguese somewhere in 1545.

A Famosa, it was Portuguese fortress located in Malaka City, Malaysia. It is among the oldest surviving European architectural remains in ShoutEast Asia and the Far East. The porta de santiago, a small gate house, is the only part of the fortress which still remains today.

Ruins of St. Paul’s Church. St. Paul’s Church is a historic church building in Melaka City, Malaysia. It was originally built in 1521, making it the oldest church building in Malaysia and Shouteastasia. It’s located at the summit of St. Paul’s Hill and is today part of Malaka Museum complex comprising the A Formosa ruins, the Stadthuys and other historical building

Christ Church Malaka, Christ Church is an 18th-century Anglican Church in the city of Malacca, Malaysia. It’s the oldest functioning Protestan Church in Malaysia and is within the jurisdiction of the lower central Archdeaconry of the Anglican Diocese of West Malaysia

Malaka River provides breathtaking view during blue hour as well, it worth to have a walk along Malaka River.

Enjoying Sunset @ Tanah Lot

Tanah lot beach is a interesting rocky coastline and very well known through the world because of unique Hindu Temple set on the big rock encircled by seawater. The place has been visited by tourist from all over the world time to time, especially during the sunset which create breathtaking view and romantic nuance.

Tanah lot is located in Beraban Village, Kediri, Tabanan Regency, Bali. It's about 25km aways from capital city of Bali, Denpasar.

I had visited the place three times, i enjoyed very much astonishing sunset color, lovely rocky coast line during low tide as well as marvelous sea wave during the high tide

On the west sides of Tanah lot, about 100m to the west, still within the same coastline instead, there a temple sat on the rocky coastline. It's called Batu Bolong Temple.

I visited Batu Bolong Temple in few years ago during the high tide. I did not manage to go down to the shore to take some photographs. However, i am glad to get some of shots from pedestrian zone which is connecting Tanah Lot and Batu Bolong.

Pantai Soka / Soka Beach, Bali

Pantai Soka, Soka Beach, Landscape, Travelling

I visited Pantai Soka / Soka Beach few weeks ago, which is located in Antap Village, Tabanan, Bali, Indonesia. Location of Pantai Soka / Soka Beach is easy to find as this beach near to main road of Jawa-Bali route. Even we are able to see the shore line from the main road. It's about 50 km away from Denpasar, it could be reached in 2 hours or less than that if not trap in traffic.

I spent my childhood in Tabanan, Bali, even i was born there. The last visit of me to Pantai Soka / Soka Beach was very long ago, when i was a kid visiting this place with my parent. I do remember well, i was jogging along the shore line with my father and then i felt down when i was trying to avoid small wave coming toward me. That was the first time i tasted sea water and realized, it's salty.

Pantai Soka / Soka Beach may be not look very excotic, there is not rocky texture as common seen in south-coast of Bali, and no white sand as well, however it offers a beautiful sea view especially view of expanse of Hindia Ocean. Some part of shore line are occupied by awesome pattern of stone, the curves on the stones which is carved by wave day by day make a subtle line driving the people enjoying the sea.

I was seeing a fisherman trying his luck on that day in the afternoon even when the wind was strong as well as during high tide. Probably, this the activity the most people doing here in Pantai Soka / Soka Beach.

Pantai Soka / Soka Beach may be not so popular compare to other beaches in south parts of Bali, the beach is not over populated with visitors or tourist by then it will be very pleasure enjoying ambient of the beach here. It's comfortable for people who would like to break-away from daily routine work for awhile.

A short break, a short trip

I have short-break couple of weeks ago, i made a trip to my home, Bali, Indonesia.

I took a cab from office to Changi Airport. Traffic is always as usual during peak hours, a lot cars occupied the main road travelling to downtown. However, it just smooth move as the cab was moving in slow pace. It take about 30 minutes to reach Changi Airport from my office.

There are a lot positive changes at Changi airport, the airport is expanding and developing aggressively year by year. Bushalte and car parking-lot are aggressively built, those help to prevent jam in alighting area.

The airport is so large, line-guide for porter and airport transport are well place and clearly defined. it makes no so many traffic around airport ground base.

I flew on last flight destination to Bali with AirAsia. Stewardess make announcement that passenger to board and after couple of minutes later, we were ready for departure.

Sunset in Kintamani

Kintamani is on the north-east of Bali, it's sub district of Bangli Regency, Bali, Indonesia. Kintamani is a highland which is surrounded by villages such as, Penelokan, Toya Bungkah, Batur, Kedisan, Songan, Abang and others. Kintamani is located on the western edge of caldera wall of Gunung Batur.

The weather in Kintamani is cooler than down the coast in south-parts of Bali, even more in the evening and early in the morning. Frequently, this highland area covered by dozen of fog due to lower temperature. I get use to wear jacket or sweater during my photography trip.

There are several ways to reach Kintamani, we could drive from Denpasar and go through Bangli, or Tampak Siring Gianyar, and drive further north following main road. Also, we could drive from Singaraja and go through Puncak Penulisan and drive further down to Kintamani.

Kintamani offers breathtaking view of active volcano Gunung Batur and the serenity of Lake Batur. In this pages, i would like to share my photoworks which i took from Kedisan Village and Abang Village during the sunset.

Those photos was taken from Kedisan Village during the sunset, and it was very dark cloud covered active volcano Gunung Batur. On the other days,  i manage to get a vibrance sunset color. While the last photo was taken from Abang Villages, it just few minutes after heavy rain. 

Please keep in mind people here in Kintamani is indeed life with tradition which pass down from generation to generation, please show utmost respect by not walking to their farm land or entering their temples without permission.

My Junior "I Gede Hyoga"

It has been three years, i have been away from writing my blog. A lot of time and energy i spent to blossom my relationship with my fiancee, and after such a wonderful journey together when life is high and low, we get marriage in early 2015.

Time really fly very fast, i am a family man now. I have a gorgeous wife and a charming baby boy. He was born in December 2015, exactly when a lot people in the world celebrate Christmas. He was born in Prima Medika Hospital Denpasar Bali. He is healthy, he has 2.98kg weight and 42cm length.

In early weeks after his born, we were adapting with his sleeping time. Most of time he was sleeping, however he wake-up when he is feeling hungry, and my wife had to wake-up for breastfeeding him.

He is already 6 months old now, he is able to recognize familiar voices, especially his mom and his grandmother. He is also able to speak "pa pa pa", "ma ma ma" and "ta ta ta". It's so wonderful feeling to see him growing up day by day.

Traditional Village Tenganan - Karangasem Bali

Tenganan Village is one of traditional village in Bali, it’s located in Manggis sub -district, Karangasem regency, East part of Bali. You may be familiar with Candidasa, Tenganan is just the corner before Candidasa. It can be reached by one and half of hour driving, or its about 70km away from Capital City of Bali, Denpasar.

Farming is very common activity of Tenganan villagers, however most of them also have highly skill in traditional crafting, and  weaving. Crafting piece of bamboo is one of tremendous traditional art Tenganan has, it have been there since a long time ago, transferred from generation to generation.

Bamboo crafting is not just a traditional culture, also inheritance from previous generation. They are doing this, not only to preserve their culture but also for their living. There is another famous heritage which Tenganan  has as well, Tenun Pegrisingan (woven cloth Pegrisingan). It's one of high quality woven cloth product, even though it's being proceed in traditional approach. The way Tenganan people make this valuable art-product, it's so unique. Their product has been well recognized in world wide market.

Housing of Tenganan village is traditional, and looks simple. I did not observe they have housing structure like most common Balinese has, such Menten (North housing), Bale Dauh (West Housing), Bale Dangin (East Building), Paon (Kitchen). They ony have one house inside and the Bales are all outside the house.

The "Bale" looks traditional, most of building materials are from wood, bamboo, as well as stone and bricks.

The village is not very remote now, it's already get influenced by modern world little by little, such as lighting already using electricity, transportation, they already have motor-bikes, cars, as well as information, the television, internet, mobile hand-phone are quite handy for them nowadays, however they still highly preserve their uniquely culture.

The people, the culture as well as the heritage of Tenganan Village is indicating rich civilization this  the past.

My Collections

Hi fellows, here are the collection of my photo-works. Glad to hear that my photo-works has been appreciated by some of photography community and to be recognized as well. Those are giving me courage and motivation to keep on learning and improve my self in photography world. Some of those photos were taken in Bali, Singapore and some of them are in Batam Island. 

I do like landscape photo-work where the identity of the place is more dominant compared to the focal point,  to me it create a story line of the photos.  Some of them are in balance composition to represent a reflection of the object itself. I don't do much post processing in all of my photo-works, i just keep it simple as it is. However, i do enhance the color and increase the contrast somehow. 

There are so many photography community networks providing the service of photo-sharing. Some of them are profitable and some of them may be not. Those networks is not just for showing up your photo-work but also bring a bridge of  photographers to interact and appreciate other fellow photographers works. In this page, i am sharing my photo-works which i published in Bali Photography Guide and Gallery Photography Indonesia.
